JBL Reflect Flow Pro review
The JBL Reflect Flow Pro wireless earbuds are ideal for runners, sporting a snug design that won’t come loose as you run, and they sound great too. JBL’s Reflect Flow Pro earbuds are an upgrade to its running-focused Reflect Flow, offering key upgrades including bigger drivers for better-sounding audio, dedicated wingtips to keep the buds secure when exercising, adaptive noise cancellation tech to quieten the outside world, and improved IP68 dust and water resistance, all for an additional £30/$30.
What’s in the box?
We’re big fans of the JBL earbuds because they’re the best budget option in the whole range of Bluetooth earbuds. They’re incredibly easy to pair with your phone, and you can listen to music, play games, and more from them without having to carry a separate device.
But the big selling point of the JBL Reflect Flow Pro is its big, snazzy case. When you open the box, you’ll find a white plastic case with a miniature black face with printed JBL logos. The case is secured with a pair of shoulder straps and a Veloci shoulder bag, complete with shoulder straps and an adjustable shoulder collar.
You can also find the Reflect Flow Pro cases in black, orange, and red, making a total of six different colors to choose from. A large list of accessories is also included, including an extra chargeable battery and a stylus.
JBL Reflect Flow Pro earbuds
There’s a lot to love about the JBL Reflect Flow Pro, but there’s also a lot to hate. Although they’re made of the same high-quality plastic as the rest of the earbuds in the JBL Reflect Flow Pro series, these aren’t the most comfortable to wear. They tend to shift side to side a bit, and they can also get a bit warm in the ears.
Wear them in the rain or on a cold, wet day, your ears will get a lot drier. Ideally, you should pair these with earphones that allow you to adjust your sound playback speeds, but we couldn’t find a great fit for that. In fact, we think the included earphones tend to sound a little bit muffled, which could be a problem if you’re running or carrying the earbuds in public.
Wear these on a run or during a workout, and you’ll likely have a much drier ear than if you’re wearing your favorite pair of gloves or mittens. The only real protection these offer is if you spend a lot of time outside, and you don’t mind the cold or rainy weather.
Remote control
If you want to keep your earphones on while you run or walk, you can set up the JBL Reflect Flow Pro to work for you by connecting it to your phone. You can then control the vibrations from the phone to the external speaker, making them sound as if they’re coming from the ground. There’s also a special remote control that gives you all these functions, but we haven’t tested it because it’s been a long time since Bluetooth was hot.
Warranty
Weigh these AudioControl Microphones (priced at $99) and you’ll notice a big difference. The smaller units come with a lifetime warranty, while the larger ones come with a 30-day warranty. We think these are a good deal, especially when you consider the fact that most of them come with a carry bag and a warranty card.
Connectivity
Bluetooth technology is king these days, so it makes sense to have a Bluetooth device attached to your Bluetooth earbud. With the JBL Reflect Flow Pro, you can rock the talk-back feature on your phone, which makes the phone’s voice heard over the sound on your earbud, letting you know what’s coming out of your ears.
Sound quality
Noise cancellation is a big addition to any Bluetooth speaker, and the JBL Reflect Flow Pro has two modes to keep your ears on: Hush and No Hush. Hush is like static, while No Hush is more like a hiss. If you’re in a high-pitched voice or want to be as quiet as possible, use Hush.
Display and size
The display on the JBL Reflect Flow Pro is a bit of a mixed blessing. On the one hand, it looks amazing, but on the other it feels sub-par. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as the display does have a nice layout and works fine in either light or dark conditions.
On the plus side though, the display is bright, and you can see pretty clearly in the dark thanks to the LED lightbar feature.
